1. Student will … use the Internet responsibly by searching for the topic that the teacher or Network Administrator has stipulated (such as, Asia, clouds, schools, etc.).
2. Student shall not … use swear words to search with or respond at any time that they are on the Internet.
3. Student shall not … give anyone’s full name, home address, or phone number in anyway while on the Internet without the permission of the teacher or Network Administrator.
4. Student shall no … download anything without asking the Network Administrator’s permission; usually this will not be allowed, but exceptions may be made.
5. Student will … ask permission from the teacher or Network Administrator for permission to print anything at all from the Internet.
6. Student will … keep his/her password private from other students.
7. Student will … use the Internet as the tremendous educational tool that it is.
8. Student shall not … sign up to receive anything over the Internet without asking permission from the Network Administrator.
9. Student will … be cautious about e-mail messages from anyone asking for detailed personal information or attempting to arrange secret meetings. Talk with teacher or Network Administrator immediately if this kind of situation arises.
10. Student will not … steal other people’s work and call it your own. This is illegal!
11. Student will … treat other online users as you are taught to treat others – with respect.
12. Student will always stay on topic if in an organized chat. Ignore those comments from people who are not staying on topic or trying to find out more about you. This can be very dangerous. Your parents don’t want you “hanging out” with people that they haven’t met. These types of people like to cause harm to children and adults. Stay away from them!
13. Student will … ask for assistance from the adult supervisor if having trouble finding what is needed. This may keep student from going too far off-track.”
14. E-mail is NOT private. Never say anything via e-mail that you wouldn’t mind seeing in the school newsletter or local newspaper.
15. NEVER use swear words in your messages. This is a definite infraction of the school’s policy.
1st Infraction verbally warned
2nd Infraction license revoked 1 week; additional assignment given; parents notified
3rd Infraction license revoked 1 month; additional project assigned; parents notified
Pending the severity of the infraction, the Network Administrator and/or Principal may see the need for an additional form of punishment.
